Leidos is seeking a Systems Engineer with strong expertise in operating systems and server hardware to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft.
Meade, MD.

Summary:
The DES program supports a highly demanding mission and requires support from top technical and management talent to migrate common IT services for over twenty DoD agencies under a common platform.
You will play a key role in performing the discovery, design, and migration tasks in support of building a world-class Single Service Provider for the Department of Defense.
This role will lead server engineering to support the discovery analysis and design activities required to migrate common IT services from over twenty large-scale DoD agencies into DoDNet.

A successful candidate will be technically well-rounded, producing quality work with special attention to the right details.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
o Must be eligible for submission and be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance once approved.

Responsibilities:
oPerform initial discovery efforts, defining data collection requirements based on inputs needed to develop a successful migration planoUtilize advanced data analysis techniques and benchmarks to define the future state migration plan, and the pre-migration activities necessary to close gapsoForecast backend infrastructure needs resulting from the migration of over 20 agencies into a single architectureoDesign solutions, integrate, configure, test and deploy numerous types server-based applications based on Linux, and VMware operating systems.
oOptimize end-to-end system performance and migration workflows.
oConduct data captures to obtain computing performance and system configuration information.
oDefine migration plans that accelerate execution and minimize impact to the user community.
oEstablish migration plans for complex n-tier applications and services.
oGather needed data to forecast long-term capacity and performance requirements.
BASIC
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 8
years' experience or Master's degree with 6
years of experience (additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
Require a minimum of one compute certification which shall meet or exceed a Linux
or comparable vender certification.
Require active DoD IAT Level II (i.
e.
, Security+) certification or equivalent prior to start.
Robust experience in configuring, patching, and maintaining Linux/Unix servers.
Experience in deploying and maintaining Linux/Unix servers within an enterprise virtual environment (i.
e.
VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V).
Experience in leveraging enterprise backup solutions to protect Linux/Unix servers/workloads.
Experience required in at least two of the following flavors of Linux:
RHEL, CentOS, Debian, Oracle Linux, SUSE.
Experience implementing system hardening to include DISA STIGs.
Strong scripting and command line experience.
Experienced and comfortable with conducting technical troubleshooting deep dives to resolve issues.
Must be able to work as part of a team to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
A professional level Linux certification (i.
e.
RHCE).
Experience deploying and maintaining Red Hat Satellite.
Experience with maintaining Linux servers within cloud solutions (i.
e.
VCF, AWS, Azure, Oracle, or Google).
Experienced in deploying and maintaining Containerized solutions.
Consulting firm experience.
